Wycombe Abby School in Buckinghamshire is an independent girls boarding school which frequently tops league tables. Set in 160 acres of stunning conservation-listed grounds the appearance of all surfacing is of the utmost importance but can see high levels of wear from the schools five hundred plus pupils.
In 2015 PlaySmart were asked to assist with the resurfacing of paths on the grounds. Nick Harris the Head of Grounds and Gardens says “We at Wycombe Abbey were looking for a reliable, decorative and long-term solution to replacing old and broken footpaths around the estate. After visiting a number of other sites with Jungle Mulch, I made the decision to opt for the same approach.”
JungleMulch is different from other products in the field as it is 100% recycled and gets its vibrant colour from organic pigments which last longer than those of other options available. “I was particularly impressed with what the material is made out of, recycled lorry and aircraft tires.”
The paths running between the school teaching block and the Abbey itself were prioritised as “when the pupils and staff crossed it, particularly in the winter months, they would pick up mud on their shoes and walk it into these buildings”. Nick was very pleased with the results after PlaySmart completed works as Jungle Mulch has removed this issue, stopping frequent calls from his maintenance team to find a solution.
“PlaySmart were able to offer a professional and competitive service, with the works being carried out on time and to the highest of standards that we would expect at our site. Myself and all of the team here at the Abbey are very pleased with the final result and will be looking to PlaySmart in the future.”
