Here at PlaySmart, we’re often asked for long-term solutions for surfacing (or resurfacing) mounds, which have become problem areas in well-used parks and playgrounds. Usually, this means areas around slides, or in patches of uneven ground that are subject to heavy use.
Typically, sites use hard surfacing around slides which cause potential fall hazards. Some turfed mounds can also look unsightly if the grass isn’t given a chance to grow due to friction from heavy foot traffic.
JungleMulch (our resin-bound mulch) is the perfect solution for sloping areas, and can be a great way of brightening up an existing mound or linking together the design of the new installation.
As JungleMulch also meets the British Standard for slip resistance, it even offers certified safety benefits. The site here is a great example where a paved mound has been transformed with mulch.
As you can see, a little TLC goes a long way to revitalising a worn-out play area!
